Rename & batch rename
Rename one item
Section titled “Rename one item”With a single item highlighted, press F2 (controller X) to rename it.
You can also create new items from the command menu: New folder (Ctrl+N) and New file (empty).
Batch rename
Section titled “Batch rename”With two or more items selected, F2 / X opens the batch rename dialog, which renames the whole set at once in one of two modes:
- Numbering — a shared base name plus a zero-padded counter (extensions are
kept). For example
photo-01.jpg,photo-02.jpg, … - Find & replace — replace text across all the selected names.
A live preview shows every old → new and flags any clashes before you
commit. It runs as a tracked operation, and the whole batch undoes / redoes in
one step.
Batch rename across search results
Section titled “Batch rename across search results”When the selection spans multiple folders (from a search), batch rename restarts its number counter per folder and groups the preview by folder, so numbering stays sensible within each location.
