Selecting files

Most operations act on your selection — either the highlighted item or the set of marked items.

The keyboard, mouse, and controller all move a single highlight through the list. Whatever is highlighted is what an action targets when nothing is marked.

Clear selectionEscRT + B

Once you’ve marked two or more items, file operations — copy, cut, trash, compress, send to, and batch rename — act on the whole marked set.

Selection lives under the RT modifier: hold RT and the on-screen hint bar reveals the selection chords (A to mark, X to select all, B to clear).
