Drag & drop

DeckCrate supports mouse drag and drop. Drag a file or folder — or a whole multi-selection — onto:

  • a subfolder
  • another tab
  • a sidebar entry (Place, Bookmark, Drive, Device, or Network share)
  • a breadcrumb folder

Move vs. copy

  • Dropping within the same drive performs a move.
  • Dropping across drives performs a copy.
  • Hold Ctrl / Cmd while dropping to invert that behavior.

Drops are tracked and undoable, just like paste.

Across applications

DeckCrate uses native OS drag and drop, so it also works between apps:

  • Drag files out to Finder / Explorer, an editor, or a browser.
  • Drop files in from another app — always as a copy, so an outside file is never moved off its origin.
