Operations & Preferences manager

Long-running work (copies, moves, deletes, compress/extract) runs in the background. A floating operations overlay shows progress, and the Operations & Preferences manager gives you full control.

Open it from the toolbar or the controller’s View button. It’s a modal with two tabs that LB / RB switch between. It captures input while open; B closes it.

Operations tab

Lists every running operation across all tabs.

• Up / Down — move between operations
• X — cancel the highlighted operation
• A (keyboard P) — pause / resume it

Live throughput

Each running operation shows a small readout beneath its progress bar, with only the figures that make sense for that kind of work (hover any of them for a label):

• Transfer speed — auto-scaled to B/s, KB/s, MB/s or GB/s (copy / move / compress / extract)
• Remaining size — bytes still to transfer (copy / move / compress / extract)
• Time remaining — an estimate from the current speed (copy / move / compress / extract)
• Files remaining — how many files are left (copy / move, and the count-based operations like trash, delete, restore and empty)

Speed and the time estimate hide while an operation is paused. The compact overlay toast keeps its simple percentage bar — the detailed readout lives only in the manager.

Pause / resume & retry

Any running operation can be paused and resumed, even in the middle of a large file. CLI-backed .7z / .rar operations pause by suspending the underlying tool (macOS/Linux).

If an item fails partway — for example a source file vanished — a Retry / Skip / Cancel dialog lets you recover the rest of the batch instead of losing it all.

Preferences tab

Toggles what the sidebar shows, persisted across launches:

• the whole sidebar rail
• each section — Places, Bookmarks, Devices (plus Drives on Windows and Network where supported)
• the Recent entry
• individual Places entries
• the Number of tabs slider (1–4) at the top
• the Checksum hash algorithm (see Properties & permissions)

Up / Down move between toggles and A flips the focused one. On the Number of tabs slider and the Checksum selector, use Left / Right to change the value instead.
